Proverbs 3:9-10 (JEWISH TANAKH)
Honor the LORD with your wealth,
With the best of all your income,
And your barns will be filled with grain,
Your vats will burst with new wine.
First-fruits are a way to honour our Lord with blessings He has bestowed on us.
This sacrificial gift is to demonstrate obedience to God as well as to show faith in God that more is to come.
The Hebrew word for first-fruits is ‘bikkurim’ which means “promise to come.”
By giving of first-fruits to God, the Israelites were sowing good seed from their heart 💓 to reap the benefits in the future.
First-fruits in bible days were delivered to priests along pilgrimage road which was a sacred path – from the pool of Siloam up to the temple mount.
As a Christian believer, when you give your first-fruits offering to God, you thank God and prepare for your future.
Recently the pilgrimage road was discovered by archaeologists while utility crews were digging to repair a broken underground pipe in Jerusalem, Israel.
